Bluebird Day is a free ocean conditions app for freedivers and spearfishers, developed by Roodos and available on the Google Play Store.

We collect no personal data. Bluebird Day does not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information.
The only data stored is:
This data is stored on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Weather and ocean conditions are fetched for the spots you manually select or add. No automatic location detection is used to show you a forecast.
There is one optional exception, and it is described in full under DIVE REPORTS below: if you send a dive report, we ask once whether you would like it verified. If you say yes, your phone uses your location on the device only to work out whether you were near the spot. Your location is never sent to us. If you say no, we never ask again.
We never request background location.
If you tell us how the visibility was, we store the spot, the day, the band you picked, and — if you chose to give one — a rough number of metres.
We also ask, optionally, roughly when you dived — a block like “8–10” or “Evening”, never an exact time. It is there because our forecast is for the morning, so we need to know which reports are testing that. You can skip it, and skipping changes nothing else about your report.
If you report on a spot you dropped on the map yourself rather than one from our list, we are sent the word “unlisted” instead of that place’s coordinates, so where you dived does not reach us at all.
We also store one word about how confident we are that you were there: verified, regional, or unverified.
We never receive or store your location. Your phone works that word out by itself and sends only the word. To do that it keeps a private note on your phone, for 7 days, of which spots you were near on which day. That note never leaves your phone and is deleted with the app's data.
Sharing your location is optional. The first time you send a report we ask once whether you want it verified. If you say no, we never ask again and your report is still sent — just marked unverified. Nothing is withheld for saying no. We never ask for background location, and we never ask when you simply open the app.
There is no account and we do not know who you are. Your device is identified by a scrambled code, and we re-scramble it every 30 days.
Within 30 days you can ask us to delete your reports — email [email protected] and we will remove them. After 30 days we no longer can, because once the code has been re-scrambled there is nothing linking those reports to you or to anyone else. That is the point of doing it: older reports stop being personal data at all.
Your reports are not shown to other people. They are used to check how accurate our forecasts are. A report never changes a forecast by itself.
You can change your answer for a spot and day at any time; the new one replaces the old.
Bluebird Day uses the following third-party APIs to retrieve forecast data:
Bluebird Day uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the app is used — for example, which features are most popular and how often the app is opened. Google Analytics collects anonymised usage data such as session counts, screen views and general device type. It does not collect your name, email, or personal identity. You can opt out via your device's advertising settings. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Bluebird Day is free and currently supported by advertising via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect certain device information and advertising identifiers to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings.

Bluebird Day does not use cookies. We use localStorage on your device solely to remember your saved spots and theme preference. This data does not leave your device.
Bluebird Day is rated for Everyone and does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. As we collect no personal data from any user, there is no specific risk to children's privacy.
Since Bluebird Day does not collect or transmit personal data, there is no personal data at risk. Your saved spots and preferences exist only on your own device and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser or app storage.
Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, export or delete on our end. To remove your saved spots and preferences, simply clear the app's local storage through your device settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly if we add new features or services. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
